Following the EAC High-Level Forum on Climate Change and Food Security convened in Arusha on 23rd November 2023, with the theme “Enhancing Climate Resilience for Food Security and Environmental Sustainability in the EAC Region,” urging prioritisation of climate-resilient agricultural practices, innovation, and substantial investment in research and development for fortified food systems, we are delighted to announce that we will be working with Rikolto in East Africa and the Arusha City Council under the EU-funded AfriFOODlinks project, a 20-city research initiative.
The AfriFOODlinks project aims to improve food and nutrition security while delivering positive outcomes for climate and the environment and building social and ecological resilience. Our focus will be on Arusha as one of the sharing cities among the 20 designated hub cities, sharing cities, and networked cities.
The overall project is led by ICLEI Africa. The African Centre for Cities (ACC), the University of Ghana (UG), and the Jaramogi Oginga Odinga University of Science and Technology (JOOUST) co-lead the Knowledge Generation Work Package of the project.
